“Knowing God in the Word” with Nathan Johnson is for all to who seek to grow in knowledge of and love for God. It is for all with whom the Word of God is held in high esteem.

In all our material, it will be assumed that the Bible is nothing less than the inspired Word of God, written through men whom He commissioned to write, and through whom He recorded His thoughts for us to read and understand. We believe that the Jesus Christ of the New Testament is the Jehovah of the Old Testament, and is the Creator of all that exists. The Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to human beings, and through It we can learn of Him and His plans for us.

It is for the purpose of uncovering and discovering that plan, and of getting to know the One Who is behind it, that these studies are dedicated.

In this powerful episode of Knowing God in the Word on AM980 The Mission, we journey into Acts 12 to witness a dramatic and sobering display of God’s sovereignty.

While the early church faced intense persecution, King Herod Agrippa I sought glory for himself—accepting praise that belonged to God alone. But as Acts 12 reveals, pride before a holy God carries devastating consequences. In a shocking and horrific turn of events, Herod’s sudden death reminds us that no ruler stands above the authority of the Lord.

This episode unpacks:

The persecution of the early church

The miraculous deliverance of Peter

The dangers of pride and self-glorification

God’s ultimate power over earthly authorities

Even as evil seemed to prevail, Acts 12 closes with a triumphant truth: “But the word of God grew and multiplied.”

Tune in as we discover what Herod’s tragic end teaches us about humility, reverence, and trusting God’s unstoppable purposes.

Listen live on AM980 The Mission and grow deeper in your understanding of God through His Word.
